Mary Owen is the youngest daughter of Oscar-winning movie star and classic television icon Donna Reed and her producer husband Tony Owen. Mary has proudly been preserving her mother’s legacy as a national treasure, and also for her strides on behalf of women in media as well as her advocacy. Mary serves on the board of directors for the Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts in her mom’s home state of Iowa. The Foundation is a non-profit educational organization that provides scholarships for young people pursuing the study of the performing arts at college level. Mary has just finished collaborating on a pictorial memoir celebrating 60 years of The Donna Reed Show, out in October of 2019. In addition to lecturing on media history, Mary is working on a book highlighting the letters received by her mother from soldiers during World War II. “Rather than being a pin up girl, my mother was the girl the soldiers hoped to marry someday. She gave them hope, and these letters are an important part of American history,” Mary says. Mary lives in New York City.
