KERRY BROUGHER
Kerry Brougher is the first director of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. He was previously Chief Curator, Deputy Director and Interim Director of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C.; Director of the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford; and Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Brougher has organized retrospective exhibitions of artists such as Jeff Wall, Ed Ruscha, Gustav Metzger, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Yves Klein. He organized numerous thematic exhibitions using the moving image, including “Hall of Mirrors: Art and Film Since 1945;” “Notorious: Alfred Hitchcock and Contemporary Art;” “Visual Music; The Cinema Effect: Illusion, Reality, and the Moving Image;” and “SONG 1,” artist Doug Aitken’s 360-degree projection onto the façade of the Hirshhorn. He is curator emeritus at the Smithsonian Institution.
